With winter on its way we want to make sure that you are ready for Cycling in the cold.

Over the next few weeks we will post tips for keeping yourself and your bike safe for cycling this winter. We will cover these few things to better serve you. And as always stop in to get more information.

You need the right clothing clothing and fuel to keep you warm and give you nutrients.

Your bike should be properly maintained.

You need to be aware of the skills. When winter riding you may use different skills than do the warmer months.

Before winter hits us in Cedar everyone needs to get out and hit up some of our mountain bike trails, hurry before it’s too late.

Let us recommend Thunder Mountain. A must ride classic just outside Bryce Canyon National Park. This ride highlights technical singletrack. It winds up a steep ridge, along a narrow hogs back and through Bryce-like hoodoos. It is 7.8 miles one way, with some loose rock on the trail.

Most riders do the trail from top to bottom, benefiting from the downhill aspect, with a shuttle vehicle waiting at the bottom. The ride starts at the Coyote Hollow Trailhead, on top the mountain near the east entrance to Red Canyon. It ends at the Thunder Mountain Trailhead, at the bottom of Red Canyon.

Thunder Mountain can be ridden as a grueling out and back, covering 15.8 miles and some 3000 vertical feet.

With Red Bull Rampage 2012 this weekend we thought we would take a second and honor this biennial event. One because it is in our corner of the world and two it is a amazing event that brings people from all over the world to see what we have to offer.

They started building the trails almost a week ago and are now finishing up. With riders coming in picking their lines you can tell the event is about to start. So to get you a little pumped up we added a video of Andrew Lacondeguy’s 45 foot drop.

Enjoy.
